COVID RESULTS MATTER

Do you know yours?

My husband and I drive to CVS’s drive-thru COVID testing a few hours after I post my first piece on Medium, SUMMER TRAVEL, COVID FREE? One car, 2 COVID tests — must be true love, swiping our noses together. We were in and out of the drive-thru in less than 15 minutes with results promised in 1 to 2 days.

The next morning, my cough subsides and I feel better, but I think it’s because I took a double dose of NyQuil last night. It works if you work it. Needless to say, I’m feeling better, but the test results will give me the final answer.

Waiting for my results is agonizing. I’m not sure why, I’ve taken the test before. I think it’s because of all the socializing we did when we traveled, or is it that cases of COVID are doubling. I’m reading headlines across all platforms of new cases heading in the wrong direction, fueled by the Delta variant. In Los Angeles County, the indoor mask mandate is getting reinstated this weekend. By the way, data points mostly to people who are not vaccinated that are causing the rise in cases.

On the second day, at 4:10PM I get an email from CVS notifying me the results are ready. My heart races, I swallow in hope.

A couple of clicks and my eyes focus in on my results, I’m negative!

Yippie! So, traveling round trip across country from Los Angeles, to Providence, RI, with layovers in Charlotte and Chicago, rental car pick ups in Palm Springs, and Los Angeles, ferry services’s to Block Island, Martha’s Vineyard and several family and friend gatherings all proved to be COVID free for me and my husband.

I’m beyond relieved. My husband tested negative as well and we’re making more travels plans for August!

Safe travels everyone.
